Depo Series – Spark Depo and Micro Depo

Description

Depo Series for Coating and Overlay Repair

In industrial production, molds, dies, tools, and machine parts can experience wear, corrosion, scratches, and other surface damage. Regular maintenance can help extend service life and reduce downtime.

Depo Series is a coating and overlay device that applies the principle of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM). It transfers electrode material onto the workpiece surface to create a coating or restore damaged areas.

Low-Heat Coating and Repair

Depo Series uses extremely short electrical discharges. Therefore, the process limits heat accumulation during material deposition.

As a result, TechnoCoat describes the process as a low-heat-input method that can avoid distortion, shrinkage, pinholes, and stress caused by heat accumulation.

The process also requires no pre-heating or post-heating, according to TechnoCoat.

Strong Bonding

During the process, electrode material transfers to the workpiece and alloys with the surface. It then forms a diffusion layer that provides strong bonding.

This allows Depo Series to create both coatings and overlays without removing the deposited material after processing.

Preventive Coating

Depo Series can apply wear-resistant materials such as tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, chromium carbide, and vanadium carbide.

These coatings can help protect machine parts, molds, dies, and tools against:

  • Wear
  • Heat
  • Seizing
  • Corrosion
  • Oxidation

This makes Depo Series suitable for preventive maintenance and service-life extension.

Localized Overlay Repair

Depo Series can also repair damaged areas without processing the entire component.

Typical applications include:

  • Wear and scratches
  • Corrosion
  • Seizing and scuffing
  • Pinholes
  • Machining errors
  • Localized damage

Because the equipment is portable, operators can process only the required area. This can reduce disassembly and finishing work.

Depo Series for Aluminum Die Casting

Depo Series has specific applications in aluminum die casting and casting.

For die-casting dies, the technology can help prevent erosion, seizing, scuffing, and heat cracks. The coating can also help maintain molten aluminum flow and reduce the risk of underfill.

For aluminum die-cast and casting products, Depo Series can repair pinholes and underfill using suitable aluminum alloy electrodes.

Two Depo Series Models

Depo Series includes two models:

SparkDepo

SparkDepo is the Standard Type.

It has a capacity of 1.5 kVA, a variable spark frequency of 40–1,400 Hz, and supports overlay electrodes up to 8.0 mm.

Micro Depo

Micro Depo is the Compact / Lightweight Type based on SparkDepo.

It has a capacity of 0.5 kVA, a variable spark frequency of 60–1,400 Hz, and supports overlay electrodes up to 5.0 mm.

This gives users a choice between the standard system and a more compact, lightweight solution.

Depo Series for Industrial Maintenance

With low heat input, strong bonding, precise deposition, and portable operation, Depo Series provides a practical solution for both preventive coating and localized overlay repair.

Its applications extend across machine parts, molds, dies, tools, aluminum casting products, and other industrial components.
